Homemade Hush Puppies

Homemade Hush Puppies
1 cup self-rising flour
1 cup self-rising cornmeal
2 eggs, beaten
¼ cup milk
1/3 cup white sugar
1 medium onion, diced
pinch of salt & pepper
vegetable oil

In a medium bowl mix eggs, milk, sugar, and onion. In a separate small bowl, mix the cornmeal, flour, salt and pepper together.  Add the cornmeal/flour mixture to the egg mixture until just mixed.

Drop rounded teaspoonfuls of batter into the hot vegetable oil, and fry until golden brown.

Oh these look really yummy! I've heard of hush puppies before but have never made them. Pinned, and will definitely be giving them a try. Thanks for sharing!

These bring back fond Myrtle Beach memories. We always had these in the restaurants down there on vacation...that was the only time we had them. Thank you so much for linking to Handmade Tuesdays.
